I Began NuRenaissance as a personal philosophical thought with no name or concepts during my latter years of college at Jackson State University. In conversation with friends and fellow art peers, I would always say in references to jobs and etc., "It's not what u know dawg, BUT who u know otherwise it's almost hopeless". This gave birth to the motto.
.WITH THE SUPPORT OF FRIENDS-FAMILY-COMMUNITY AND ANYONE WHO HAS AMBITIONS AND ASPIRATIONS, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO LIMIT ON HOW FAR THIS PHILOSOPHICAL DREAM MAY SOME DAY SOAR
The name became official a few years later when I became an art teacher with Jackson Public Schools. I received a letter from the United Negro College Fund one day and I also taught a class session on both the Harlem Renaissance and Italian Renaissance, thus marked the beginning of the name. I wanted to help young positive Brothers & Sisters with the philosophy of having a "renaissance" or rebirth of actions and behaviors within everyday community life. This was it Negroes(African Americans)United Renaissance=NuRenaissance. Also, the art club I founded wore the title for one year NuRenaissance Art Club.
